Back to Café de Klok in Delft!
‘Love At First Sight’ is a song about the glorious feeling of new found love. We tried to capture the feeling of infatuation when you still count the minutes and hours before you get to see each other. The music is upbeat, guitar driven (12 string AND sitar guitar) and the backing vocals were inspired by 60's style soul and R&B. The lovely saxophone solo was played by Liesbeth Verwiel. Romantic and straight from the heart, as captured in the video by moviemaker Marc Waltman (Boegbeeld Productions). Link below!
‘Down’ is the second single from the forthcoming album ‘What’s That Rumble'. Early versions of the song go back to the days we started out as a band many years ago, hence the lyrics about teenage heartbreak (but still relevant at any age really). It was recorded with our beloved 8-track Otari tapemachine. There's some 12-string electric guitar on it and upright piano as well. It's also a song we love to play live, so join us at the shows if you like it!
In the history of music there have been many great self-titled albums, but less self-titled singles. So it's time for a new one! “Rough ‘n Tumble” is the first single from our forthcoming album "What’s That Rumble". It’s one of our fastest and wildest tracks yet! Alongside the usual suspects of drums, bass, and guitars there’s a prominent role for an organ, to add depth and shine to the guitar parts. To keep things raw and authentic, we recorded everything on analogue tape. Moviemaker and director Marc Waltman brought this song to life with an exciting video that perfectly matches the music. Watch until the end, there’s a twist in the plot you don’t want to miss!

This album was recorded in our own studio and we had a lot of fun making it. All the basic tracks were recorded in 4 session days (we've still got some good ones left). Drums, bass & guitars went to 8 track tape (our good old Otari tape recorder) while singing (or sometimes shouting...) guide vocals. For drums we used the Glyn Johns miking technique, with only one overhead microphone above the snare, one behind the floortoms and one mic on the kick. Dubs went to the tape as well: the old Zimmermann Upright piano, electric 12 string , organ, some acoustic guitar and harmonica. Eric Geevers lent us a great electric Sitar guitar that went well with the psychedelic vibe of some of the songs. Liesbeth Verwiel came over to play a short but beautiful saxophone solo on "Love At First Sight". On the self titled song "Rough 'n Tumble" we used the speed button on the Otari to create some spacy, almost cinematic effects. The songs written by Anton except "Down", written by Anton & Martin together while "Live Life" was written by Martin. They produced and mixed the album together and the mastering was done by Frederik Dejongh (Jerboa Mastering). The artwork pictures were taken by Marbella Uhlenbeck, after a great gig in the Route 66 Bar in Scheveningen/ Den Haag, a few streets away from where Anton & Martin were born. Leo Leeflang provided the layout/artwork. The official videos were made by moviemaker/director Marc Waltman.

Here we are, the Rough 'n Tumble album ‘Eyes On The Road’. Nine songs about love (lost & found) and one ultimate car song: the title track (well almost) ‘All Eyes On The Road’. We recorded this album in their own analogue studio, during a time of divorce and new found love. Mastered by Jon Astley (remember The Who's ‘Live at Leeds’!). Rocky grounds, rocky sounds!
